Welcome back to Kovolution!
Today, I am posting about a brand-new hotspot in Magok! I just visited My Art Museum One Grove to see an incredibly warm and cozy exhibition, and I couldn't wait to share it with you.It is the first-ever Korean solo exhibition by American illustrator Haley Tippmann, titled <Drawing Everyday Life: The Temperature of an Ordinary Day>.
The exhibition is perfectly organized into 5 sections, and I completely fell in love with the unique texture and aesthetic of her digital drawings. This is a 100% genuine, self-funded review! Let's dive right in. Hahaha.
π Location & Entrance
Address: My Art Museum One Grove, Room 213, 2nd Floor, Building C, 165 Gonghang-daero, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
This exhibition is held at the newly opened My Art Museum branch in Magok. Right from the entrance, you are greeted by a main poster featuring her signature soft color palette! Because the facility is brand new, it is incredibly clean and spacious, making it the perfect environment to enjoy some art. Hahaha.
π©π¨ Who is Haley Tippmann? (The Magic of Digital Drawing)
At the beginning of the exhibition, there is a detailed introduction to the artist. Haley Tippmann is an American illustrator recognized by The New York Times and known for collaborating with global brands. Rather than focusing on grand themes, she captures the quiet, ordinary moments of our daily lives through her art.
★ Exhibition Pro-Tip! ★ The most fascinating part is that all of these warm, painterly pieces are entirely created through 'Digital Drawing', not traditional paintbrushes! If you look closely at the works, you can see delicate layers of color stacked on top of each other, giving it the deep, rich texture of oil pastels or real paint. Thanks to her soft colors and use of negative space, it is so easy to naturally project your own emotions into her work. Hahaha.
πΌ Breaking Down the 5 Sections!
The exhibition is divided into 5 sections, following the artist's perspective on everyday moments. It is so much fun to feel how the emotional tone shifts as you follow the path!
Stopped Time: The Temperature of Staying: This space records the warmth and stillness of a room through everyday objects and still lifes. From a messy desk to a potted plant by the window, you can feel her starting point in observing daily life.
Staying Close: The Rhythm of Relationships: Here, relationships are expressed through non-verbal cues—like the angle of a body or the physical distance between people—rather than facial expressions. Looking at people resting under a parasol or the backs of an old couple at a diner, the warm temperature of that space is perfectly conveyed.
The Texture of Memory: Landscapes Layered with Time & Experience: This section features unfamiliar landscapes from her travels to places like the US and Germany, reconstructed through her warm emotional filter. It is full of travel romance!
Everyday Life Somewhere: A Turning Point of Emotions: Here, you can see her latest works, reflecting the artist's relatively recent inner changes and emotions.
Leftover Everyday Lives: The Work Process (ft. Artist Video): This area gives you a peek into her creative process, from early sketches to commercial illustrations! Importantly, there is an interview and process video playing here. Watching the video adds so much depth to the artwork, so I highly recommend watching it to the very end!
πΈ Aesthetic Photo Zones & Merch Shop
Once you finish the exhibition, you are greeted by adorably decorated photo zones!!! Hahaha. They recreated the bedrooms and living rooms straight out of Haley Tippmann's illustrations. There is even a mirror selfie zone, making it the absolute best spot to snap some aesthetic photos for your feed.
And, of course, right past the photo zone is the merchandise shop! Hahaha. The artworks that left a deep impression on me were beautifully displayed as postcards and posters, so be prepared to empty your wallet! I highly recommend picking something up if you love journaling or just want to hang an aesthetic poster on your bedroom wall.
π Final Verdict
Living such busy and fiercely competitive lives, this was the perfect "healing" exhibition that made me stop and realize just how beautiful and valuable an "ordinary day" really is.
Whether you are looking for a weekend date spot with your partner or just want to enjoy some quiet cultural time alone, I highly, highly recommend the <Haley Tippmann: Drawing Everyday Life> exhibition at My Art Museum One Grove! Hahaha.Tags:
