[Busan Cafe Guide] A 1920s Hospital Turned Vintage Cafe: Brown Hands Baekje

 Welcome back to Kovolution!

I am Park's Korean Theory.

Following up on my previous post about Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, today I am introducing the absolute perfect cafe to visit right before hopping on your train: Brown Hands Baekje.

With an incredibly unique atmosphere and an unbeatable location, I was deeply satisfied with this spot (though I do have one small, honest critique to share!). Let's get into the review.

1. The Ultimate Location & Perfect Course

  • Address: 1st Floor, 16 Jungang-daero 209beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan.

  • This cafe boasts insane accessibility—it is literally just across the street from Busan Station. There is no better place to kill that awkward amount of time before your train departs.

  • Even better, it is located right next door to the restaurant from my last post! Enjoying a hearty bowl of Busan noodles and then hopping over here for a coffee is the ultimate, stress-free travel itinerary.

2. Movie Set Vibes: A Step Back in Time

  • The exterior is extraordinary. This modern architectural building is actually a renovated hospital (the former Baekje Hospital) originally built in the 1920s! The antique red brick facade is genuinely stunning.

  • Stepping inside feels like walking onto a vintage movie set. The original arched doorways, rough brick textures, and exposed wooden ceilings have been preserved, giving off an incredible vintage aesthetic.

3. Park's Honest Critique

  • To be completely candid... because it is such a historic building, there is a slightly musty, old smell inside the cafe.

  • If you are highly sensitive to scents, you might find it a bit noticeable at first. However, the atmosphere is so overwhelmingly cool that you quickly get used to it once you sit down and relax!

4. Drinks & Final Verdict

Sipping our iced coffees in such a beautiful, historic space completely melted away the fatigue of our Busan trip. The drinks were clean and refreshing, making it the perfect spot to chat and relax by the window while waiting for our departure.

Despite the slight old-building scent, the jaw-dropping vintage vibe and the crazy accessibility right in front of Busan Station make this place incredibly attractive. If you need a great cafe near the station or right after a meal, I highly recommend Brown Hands Baekje! I have a 10,000% intention to revisit before my next train ride out of Busan.
